Halebury announces raft of senior hires
Alternative law firm Halebury has announced an addition to its management team as well as six senior hires to their team of experienced in-house lawyers. A NewLaw pioneer, the firm specialises in providing senior legal resourcing solutions for listed corporations and fast-growing SME’s, predominantly within the technology, media and telecoms and financial services sectors.
To support and manage its growth strategy this year which involves a 66% increase to its legal team, Halebury has expanded its management team with the hire of Michelle Corneby as Head of Client Resourcing. Prior to joining Halebury, Michelle trained as a corporate lawyer with Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw (now Mayer Brown International) and worked in-house at Lehman Brothers before heading up the in-house division of specialist legal recruitment agency First Counsel.
In order to carefully manage the career development of their lawyer team, the new model firm recruits in tranches of 3-6 lawyers at a time. The first wave of Halebury’s growth this year sees the addition of six senior in-house lawyers; Sharon Evans, Linda Kabi, Carolyn Lazarus, Anomika Bedi, Vincent Collins and Belinda Stevens.
Linda Kabi joins with 30 years’ experience working primarily in the international telecoms industry, having previously acted as GC at Nowtel. Linda has also worked as a senior lawyer in high-profile tech companies including BT, Inmarsat, Hutchison 3G and Vodafone.
Sharon Evans (nee Towns) comes on board from Expedia Affiliate Network, a global B2B business forming part of the Expedia Group, where she was a member of the leadership team and held a senior role with global reach, working across EMEA, APAC and Americas. Prior to this Sharon was Commercial Director at Sony Music Entertainment International. She has also worked as a commercial lawyer at Guardian News and Media and Sony BMG Music Entertainment UK.
Carolyn Lazarus has a strong background in the technology and media sectors and in IP exploitation. She established and managed legal departments for ICI/Zeneca Seeds and for Oxford University Press and has recently set up a legal presence for the Co-op Pharmacy business.
Anomika Bedi is a highly experienced IT and business affairs lawyer and spent nearly 20 years’ in a variety of senior legal roles at Accenture, including Director of Legal Services: Innovation & Product & Offering Development and New Business and Alliances. Before joining Halebury she was Special Projects, Risk & Compliance Counsel at Baker and McKenzie.
Vincent Collins joins from his role as Lead Lawyer to Tesco.com and Tesco Digital. Vincent was at Tesco for the last three and a half years. Prior to Tesco, Vincent spent over 10 years at Amazon where he progressed to hold two director positions, Legal Director EU operations and UK Legal Director, where he lead the UK legal team and sat as part of the UK leadership team.
Belinda Stevens completes the recent intake of senior lawyers. Belinda was previously Head of Procurement, Governance and Policy at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust. She has also held in-house roles at Royal and Sun Alliance, American Express and Aon.
