Halebury CEO Denise Nurse honoured with award at the Diversity Legal Awards 2016
Halebury Co-Founder and CEO Denise Nurse was the recipient of a prestigious Diversity Legal Award last night in the category of Small firm/SME: Diversity and Inclusion Initiative of the Year.
The awards are a BSN initiative and the only industry awards which focus solely on recognising, promoting and celebrating equality, diversity and inclusion across the legal profession.
Submissions are invited that cover one, some or all aspects of diversity; to include social mobility, gender, ethnicity, disabilities and sexual orientation. It is hoped that these awards will help raise standards across the profession, as those making submissions seek to create ever-more impactful policies, processes and initiatives.
Denise was awarded for establishing Halebury along with Co-founder Janvi Patel with a view to creating a different blueprint, for creating a pathway for those joining the legal profession that aims to be more inclusive, that embraces different skills rather than focusing on hourly rates and changes the way lawyers are trained. She commented:
“To have been recognized by the Diversity Legal Awards is a huge achievement for us at Halebury. Now, more than ever before, it is so critical we keep raising awareness and pushing forward with diversity initiatives and we look forward to doing even more on this front at Halebury in 2017.”
The awards ceremony held at The Grange Hotel included addresses by BBC News Presenter and Correspondent Reeta Chakrabati and Ken Olisa OBE. Sandie Okoro, who has just been appointed Senior Vice President and General Counsel of World Bank, was presented with the BSN Liftetime Achievement Award.
