Halebury Sports Lawyer speaks at ABU Copyright Forum
Halebury Sports lawyer Raj Koria was invited to speak yesterday, Tuesday 27 May, in Colombo, Sri Lanka at the 20th Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Copyright Committee Forum hosted this year by MTV Channel Pvt Limited (MTV). ABU is a non-profit, non-governmental, professional association of broadcasting organisations.
The ABU Copyright Committee and other stake holders meets annually to discuss, share, analyse and to inform members on copyrights, intellectual property rights, broadcasting rights, piracy, and various other related issues and case studies from the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. Experts from this field also gather to advise the members on the changing trends in the broadcasting industry and on how they can protect their assets.
Raj spoke on the issue of the piracy of live sports broadcasts, looking the challenge it poses and exploring ways to counter it.
Raj has considerable experience of advising clients on the sale and purchase of broadcasting rights to major sporting events, including Sochi 2014.
