What do you focus on for your clients

Using my experience leading legal departments and teams for several companies in the telecoms and technology industries, I assist clients in a wide variety of matters, from day-to-day commercial transactions and legal advice, to advising on and negotiating the resolution of disputes, to assisting with mergers and acquisitions and preparing companies for sale. I also can assist with anti-bribery compliance programmes, both under the UK Bribery Act and the US FCPA.

Tell us about your professional background

My legal training and initial career were in the United States, where I started out as a litigator, but eventually became an international commercial lawyer, with experience living and working in Central and Eastern Europe. In 1999, I moved to the UK as part of the legal department of the Vodafone Group, where I became the Head of Corporate Law, leading the team of lawyers advising on Vodafone’s mergers and acquisitions. From Vodafone, I moved to Dublin to become the General Counsel of gaming software company, CryptoLogic Limited. Whilst there, I assisted with its reorganisation and eventual sale, after which I returned to the UK to serve as Head of Legal for IRIS Software Limited. I am dual qualified in both the US, as an attorney, and England, as a solicitor.

Tell us a bit about your working style and other interests

My clients have remarked that I am unflappable and calm, yet passionate about my work, with a pragmatic and commercial outlook. I serve as a Lay Trustee and Board Member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy, and am a member of the Institute of Directors. In my spare time, I avidly pursue my hobby of flying, as the holder of a Private Pilot’s Licence.
